Backing up critical tape has always been a challenging task. Regardless of the methods you employ, tape availability continues to depend on JCL modifications or tape respooling to be effective. Unlike disk utilities, tape utilities have never fully tackled the challenge of data recoverability.

Our Tape/Assist utility can change that. A full-featured backup and recovery tool for your critical tapes, Tape/Assist works in conjunction with your tape management system to ensure complete recoverability of your critical data.

Tape/Assist associates critical tape to its current backup and provides reporting mechanisms to assure successful backup and off-site rotation. In addition, Tape/Assist allows you to:

• Recover critical tape as simply as running a batch job
• Access critical data without the headache of changing JCL or respooling tape volumes
• Copy critical data using a parameter-driven copy utility
• Maximize output and minimize vaulting requirements by stacking volumes
• Track and monitor all files under a central Tape/Assist umbrella
• Eliminate the tape mounts usually required to restore critical tape data
