21st Century Software, Inc. Announces DR/VFI 4.2

With its new release, the DR/VFI data protection and recovery tool provides the highest levels of performance and reliability yet.

St. Louis, Missouri — April 30, 2007 — Today, at the 2007 IBM PartnerWorld Conference, 21st Century Software, a leading provider of intelligent data protection solutions, announced a major upgrade to their popular DR/VFI™ product.

Based on extensive research and user input, version 4.2 of DR/VFI is optimized and enhanced for expanded functionality, reduced runtime and high performance.

Paul Eckert, 21st Century Software’s lead developer and project manager for DR/VFI, comments, “These features make DR/VFI more reliable and powerful—and ensure it provides even better data protection. By automatically monitoring files and data used by enterprise applications in real-time, it determines which files would be most critical to recover after a disaster, hardware failure, or other calamitous event. Ground breaking technology ensures that Business Resumption personnel achieve their objectives and that users cut costs. “

To achieve a real-time infrastructure, organizations must have the ability—in real-time—to analyze and monitor applications and data that are critical to their enterprise applications.  No other recovery management solution offers the ability to monitor critical file use in real-time to ensure their backup and recoverability, combined with the capability to conduct a simulated recovery at any time. The real-time monitoring and analysis and simulated recovery features in the most recent release of DR/VFI can help companies ensure recoverability as well as address regulatory compliance requirements around data retention.

In addition, DR/VFI 4.2 successfully integrates with all backup products—not just proprietary ones. Eckert explains, “Our new and updated utilities and functions provide users with the tools to assure recovery preparedness. Enhanced online panels simplify navigation of the real-time environment.

As an Application-Driven Data Management (ADDM) solution, DR/VFI retains and recovers data and files required by critical enterprise applications. Gartner analysts note that the ADDM methodology used by 21st Century Software’s DR/VFI 4.2 product aligns with its concept of the “Real-Time Infrastructure," and contributes to its recommendations for continuous data protection. Continuous data protection provides for multiple copies or snapshots of data, instead of only a single backup every day—and offers additional flexibility and reliability by creating snapshots at logical or critical times.

Beta testing for this solution commences in June 2007 and SAS testing begins September 2007.
